He also served as the run game, recruiting and strength & conditioning coordinator, helping to lead the Foresters to an 8-2 overall record and a share of the Midwest Conference Championship during the 2012 season. Prior to his time at Lake Forest, Soenksen coached at Briar Cliff University from 2009-11, where he was the offensive line and tight ends coach as well as the assistant special teams coordinator and video coordinator. He has also coached at Central Methodist University (2007-09) and MacMurray College (2006) and was a recruiting assistant at Lake Forest between stops. He helped the Foresters to their first Midwest Conference Championship in 20 years and the program’s first playoff appearance. He guided Lake Forest to a 28-12 combined record during his career, representing the most wins over any four-year span in program history. He played two seasons at Vernon Hills High School (Ill.), starting both years at offensive line and linebacker while earning All-Area Honorable Mention and All-Conference honors both seasons.
