Tami Gold
Tami Gold launched her career in the Newsreel Film Collective of the anti-Vietnam War movement at the age of 20 and has since produced and directed over 20 films about controversial or often ignored subjects. Her work has appeared at the Sundance Film Festival, the New York Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art, the American Film Institute's International Film Festival, the Whitney Museum among other venues.
Most recently, Tami produced a 4-minute video entitled TO THE WORKERS OF THE WORLD, an elegy to the kitchen workers at the Windows on the World luxury restaurant on the 107th floor of the World Trade Center, the first tower attacked on 9/11 which premiered at the Walker Arts Center and will air on WNET's Reel NY series. In 2001, Tami produced, directed (with Kelly Anderson) MAKING A KILLING, a documentary about the tobacco giant Philip Morris and their efforts to build their customer base by targeting children throughout the world.
In 1998, Tami completed ANOTHER BROTHER, about an African American Vietnam veteran, which premiered at the Urban World Film Festival, won a Gold Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival, a CINE Golden Eagle Award, a Gold World Medal at the New York Festivals International Competition, 1st Place at The Athens International Film & Video Festival and was broadcast over PBS. In 1997, she completed OUT AT WORK: LESBIANS AND GAY MEN ON THE JOB (with Kelly Anderson) which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. She then remade the film for an HBO television special - Out at Work: America Undercover (with Kelly Anderson), which won a CINE Golden Eagle Award and was selected Most Outstanding Documentary at the GLAAD Media Awards 2000.
Some of her other works include SIGNED, SEALED & DELIVERED, PRESCRIPTION FOR CHANGE, FROM BEDSIDE TO BARGAINING TABLE, and LOOKING FOR LOVE: TEENAGE MOTHERS. In 1996, Tami directed her first dramatic film, EMILY & GITTA which was presented at the NY Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, the Freiburger Lesbenfilmtage, Germany, the San Fransico Jewish Film Festival, the Lesbian Film Festival of Paris and at festivals throughout the world.
Tami is the recipient of fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Guggenheim Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the American Film Institute (NEA), and she received the Excellence in the Arts award from the Manhattan Borough President. Tami is a professor in the Film and Media Studies Department at Hunter College. (09/09)

Tami Gold, the chair of Hunter College's PSC chapter, states the review of Pathways curriculum is still in progress.
"Certain curricular problems have been identified at campus after campus, specifically the need for modification of the numbers of contact hours for courses... Faculty at several campuses have declined to act to approve courses proposed by their own colleagues because of these curricular problems," said Gold.
Gold also mentioned the legality of Pathways has still not yet been resolved.
Faculty members with tenure, and those expecting to receive tenor, have a "delayed understanding" of the pervasive impact a program like Pathways will cause, said Gold.

Tami Gold is a documentary filmmaker, visual artist, educator and Bronx native. She was first introduced to the documentary films of Santiago Alvarez while studying in Mexico and Cuba. Gold continued to immerse herself in the film-making world and started working with Newsreel Film Collective (currently Third World Newsreel) in the 70s, where she produced and directed (with Heather Archibald) the docu-drama My Country Occupied. The film won First Place in the Leipzig Film Festival and was featured at the Whitney Museum and the Museum of Modern Art. Gold continued to direct and produce and formed the production company Andersongold Films, Inc. in 1996. In addition, Gold is also a Professor at Hunter College of the City University of New York in the Department of Film and Media Studies.
