Karen Isaacson is the mother of five gifted children and the award-winning author of three humorous and educational books on living with gifted people: Raisin' Brains: Surviving My Smart Family, Life in the Fast Brain: Keeping Up With Gifted Minds, and, with Tamara Fisher, Intelligent Life in the Classroom: Smart Kids and Their Teachers.
Tamara J. Fisher, M.A., is the K-12 Gifted Education Specialist for the Polson School District located on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana. She serves on the Executive Board of Montana AGATE (Association of Gifted and Talented Education). In addition, she is a SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted) facilitator for her District. Tamara earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Montana State University-Bozeman, and her M.A. in Gifted Education from the University of Connecticut. Tamara's wealth of experiences working with gifted students from kindergarten through high school appear in her book, "Intelligent Life in the Classroom: Smart Kids and Their Teachers," published by Great Potential Press, which she co-authored with Karen Isaacson. The book is a lively look at the traits and characteristics of gifted children, shown through real anecdotal examples of gifted children, many of them her students. Tamara also blogs about her experiences with, and knowledge of, gifted students for teachermagazine.org ("Unwrapping the Gifted"). Tamara's hobbies include drawing, photography, painting, writing, hiking, four-wheeling, spending time with family and friends, and building houses. Her own home, which she built ten years ago, is shaped like a hexagon.
