"If the law says we must go into a closed session to discuss a personnel issue, we need to do that," said Greensboro City Council member T. Dianne Bellamy-Small.
"It is not fair to our police department."Discussion also arose whether the city attorney should answer directly to City Council, as opposed to the city manager.The city attorney customarily provides counsel to the city manager, who then advises City Council on issues such as personnel matters."This ambushing of ideas is not fair," Bellamy-Small added, who is also a former Greensboro Police officer.
"I really feel that we need to really be careful in trying to respond to media's need," said Bellamy-Small
, "because media, at least so far, has not always been balanced in how they have reported the news.
