Stinson Leonard Street Partner Susan McGreevy Selected for The Builders' Association Kansas City Chapter 2014 Board of DirectorsStinson Leonard Street LLP Partner Susan McGreevy has been selected to the 2014 Board of Directors for the 'The Builders Association Kansas City Chapter/AGC.' She is the first individual to be selected to the Board of Directors who is not a member of a traditional construction business.
The mission of The Builders' Association is to provide high quality and valued services that contribute to the betterment of each individual member and the construction industry.
While spanning three centuries, the Builders' Association's full-service, nonprofit association has positioned itself for a strong future, with a broad range of services, both traditional and hi-tech.
In recent years, they have become a leader in the development and delivery of web-based education and training among construction trade associations.
McGreevy's construction practice consists primarily of advising construction companies, sureties, design professionals, and owners in their day-to-day business ventures.
She has written and presented extensively on virtually all areas of construction law - most recently authoring numerous firm alerts and hosting a vastly popular, monthly construction program at firm's Kansas City office.
“I see the problem on the back end, said Susan McGreevy, a construction lawyer for Stinson Leonard Street.
Huge demand for subcontractors means they are substituting personnel on current job sites to secure additional work, and in some cases, “the sub gets a new job he likes better and he just walks off of a construction site.
“In this market, we have an awful lot of family businesses, said Susan McGreevy, and those companies are successful because they’re good at what they do.
Ingram's :: Construction and Design Industry Outlook
Another obstacle for owners, suggested Susan McGreevy, an attorney with Stinson Leonard Street, is that innovative delivery systems make it more complicated to assign blame if something goes wrong. “All of a sudden you get everybody scattering back to their corners, said McGreevy. “And the spotlight stays on the person that stamped the drawings.
The challenge, said Susan McGreevy, “is how do you get people to stop looking at it as a job and start looking it as a career or profession?
Stinson Leonard Street Construction Attorney, Susan McGreevy will present on October 16, in Branson, Missouri, on the topic of 'Getting the (Heck) out of Dodge: Succession Planning in Construction for the Missouri General Contractors Association.
