Susan Leger Ferraro
is a self-made success story.
After starting her
career as an early childhood care provider at age 17 in her
parent's house, she
has built a network of successful childcare centers that provide high quality education and care for children and their families.
Susan founded Little Sprouts, Inc. in 1982 to provide education for young children that revolves around literacy and attends to children's physical, cognitive and social-emotional development.
Since that time Susan has started three other companies including Imajine That which offers educational play and developmentally appropriate activities for children and their families, and partners with communities of high need of services to provide extended day education programs for pre-K-first grade-aged children.
Susan is the Founder of Little Sprouts Inc., CEO of Imajine That, Inspirational Ones, and Peace Love and Happiness, LLC.
Under Susan's leadership Little Sprouts Inc. received $10 million in funding from the U.S. Department of Education Early Reading First Preschool Center of Excellence Award
The success of the Little Sprouts
educational model were evident in the dramatic growth of children's reading proficiency scores on a standardized test where they went from the 60th % in most at risk communities in Massachusetts to the top 5 %. Susan's business acumen was evident as Little Sprouts grew during the recession and she
was subsequently awarded the Boston Business Journal's Pacesetters Award.
Susan has received additional awards including the U.S. Small Business Administration's Massachusetts Woman in Business Champion award, the Greater Boston Small Business Enterprise Entrepreneur of the Year award, Boston Women's Fund Woman of Action Award, Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in Massachusetts, National Top 100 Diversity-Owned Businesses, Beacon for Homeless Families award from COMPASS for Homeless Families and the Massachusetts School Committee Partners in Education Award.
