Susan Hoppough, PhD, RN
Executive Director Research & Innovation; Grants Management Dr. Hoppough has worked for Mercy Health for 12 years, the last 7 as Director of the Office of Research & Innovation. She graduated from Michigan State University with a Master's in Nursing and a PhD in Family Studies, specializing in underserved populations. Dr. Hoppough has over 18 years of experience in research and currently provides operational oversight of contracts and grants for both federally funded programs and research including clinical trials and the Phase I Clinical Trial Unit. While trained as a qualitative researcher, Dr. Hoppough's area of expertise is in research compliance. At the national level, Dr. Hoppough is the Disparities Subcommittee Co-Chair for the NCI National Community Cancer Center Program (NCI NCCCP), to which the Mercy Health Lacks Cancer Center was selected to be part of in 2010, and co-leads the Disparities for this program locally. She is Co-Chair of the Michigan Cancer Consortium and served in the past on the Board of the West Michigan Susan G. Komen Foundation. Dr. Hoppough led the development of IRB Authorization Agreement with Michigan State University and the designation of Mercy Health Saint Mary's campus as the IRB of Record for Trinity Health (Livonia). Additionally, Dr. Hoppough is leading the regionalization of research for Mercy Health.
