Susan FinzenSusan FinzenSusan Finzen has been anchoring the 6pm and 10pm news since coming to Springfield in 1985.Susan has won numerous awards in her tenure at NewsChannel 20.She won first place for best newscast in 2000 from the Associated Press and the Illinois Broadcasters Association. She also has won several awards for her reporting.Originally from Iowa, she graduated from Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications.Finzen's first television news job was at KCAU-TV in Sioux City as a news photographer.Eventually she became a reporter, producer, and anchor in Sioux City.Finzen moved to Peoria, Illinois in 1982 to work at WRAU-TV (now WHOI-TV) as a producer for the five o'clock live news program. She later became a reporter and weekend anchor at WHOI-TV.The aspect of the job that she enjoys the most is being able to share the stories that touch our hearts.Stories about ordinary people doing the extra-ordinary, about people succeeding in spite of the odds, and about people reaching out to give of themselves. We don't get to tell enough of those stories, but they are out there and when we find them, sharing them with our viewers reminds us that news is more than the events of the days, it's also about who we and what we are as people..Finzen is married with two children, Kyle and Nicole.
