Sun Yue: Sun is Chinese, starts for the Chinese National Team and has played for the Los Angeles Lakers. He's a 6-9 guard who causes a lot of match-up problems against vertically challenged opposing perimeter lineups, not by doing the things most tall guards do on offense (posting up, backing guys down), but by recently figuring out how to drive and dish, and also - somewhat shockingly if we may add - how to shoot the crap out of the ball from three.
So why isn't he playing in the CBA? Because he plays for Winston Lee and Beijing Aoshen, one of the weirdest professional teams in the entire world. Instead of playing in China's national professional league, Sun has been relegated to playing in an international invitational basketball tournament in his home province of Hebei, where he racks up 44 points against the San Francisco Rumble.
Yeah, we think Sun should be playing in the CBA, too.

Everything about Sun Yue is unorthodox. He's a left-handed, 6-9 point guard who can't really dribble. He shares the same name as a popular Chinese pop singer. He prefers to be called "Monkey King" over "The Chinese Magic Johnson," which in China, actually isn't that weird since the Monkey King is considered by all as straight up O.G. And he's got two recorded tracks already available for your listening pleasure, with two more on the way, including a rap song called "Champion," in tribute to the Chinese national team's recent gold medal run at the Asian Games last month. (I have no idea if it features Ron Artest.)
But, even all that goofiness doesn't even remotely compare to Sun's current basketball team, Beijing Aoshen, and its owner, Winston Lee.
...
For those who aren't familiar with his situation, Sun plays for the Beijing Aoshen Olympians, arguably the most unique (and redundantly named - Aoshen means "Olympic spirit" in Chinese) teams in the word.
...
Sun, however, despite all the acrimony between owner and country, has since been allowed to play for the national team starting in 2006, playing most recently in the 2010 World Championships and 2010 Asian Games.
...
This summer, it was rumored that Sun, coming off a solid performance at the Asian Games, was headed back to the CBA, the loudest noises coming from Shanghai, who is coached by China national team coach, Bob Donewald Jr.
...
"Chengdu was a new starting point for Sun Yue, and after he worked hard with Aoshen, everyone saw an even more mature Sun Yue [in the World Championships and Asian Games].
