is responsible for the strategic management of Asia House public engagement and communications and he
directs the Asia House Cultural Programme, which includes talks, symposia, performance, exhibitions and film, centred on two annual festivals, the Pan-Asia Film Festival and the Festival of Asian Literature.
He has over 15 years of experience in arts administration and management, public engagement and creative programming, audience development, cultural strategy and international relations.
Prior to joining Asia House in January 2009 he was Public Programmes Manager at the National Portrait Gallery, where he conceived and delivered innovative, multi-disciplinary public programming for a wide range of audiences.

As a freelance writer and art critic Sumi has had features published in the Independent, the Guardian and Modern Painters and he was the winner of the Guardian/Modern Painters Art Writers' Prize in 2004.
He has an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London.
