Mr. Suliman Al-Qadi, CEO of SEC, told a meeting of Saudi businessmen in Jeddah that SEC is planning to launch a competitive bidding process for the construction and management of power projects this year.Documents distributed at the meeting said that seven new power plants will be on offer - three on the western Red Sea coast (Yanbu-2, Rabigh-2, and Shuquaiq-2), one on the eastern Gulf coast (Qurayyah-2), and three in central Saudi Arabia (Muzahimiyah-2, Sulbokh, and Power Plant 10).Al-Qadi also said that investments for projects in large Saudi cities could also be opened up in the coming decade.
Mr. Al-Qadi added that tender documents will be issued in two months and contracts will be awarded before the end of 2004.

The Executive President of SEC, Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Qadi, said that the total number of subsidiary power stations has reached 15 with a capacity of 110 KVs (Kilo volts), and 8 with a capacity of 33 KVs.
"There are now 430 medium power-generation turbine networks and 522 new electricity distribution stations in different parts of Madinah Region," he said.
Sulaiman Qadi added that 154 employees and technicians took part in executing the operation project for Madinah Region.
