Sue Wardell, DFID Regional Director announced two DFID financial packages for Vietnam of £20 million for the Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC) and £17 million for the School Education Quality Assurance Programme (SEQAP)
Hanoi, 30 September 2009 - Sue Wardell, DFID Regional Director in charge of North East Asia, today announced two DFID financial packages for Vietnam of £20 million for the Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC) and £17 million for the School Education Quality Assurance Programme (SEQAP), a full-day schooling programme. This is reconfirmed in the new UK White Paper on international development, launched in July this year", Sue added. In meetings with the Vice Minister for Planning and Investment and with the Government Inspectorate, Sue underlined the importance of the UK's 10-year Development Partnership Arrangement with Vietnam (2006-15) as a basis for constructive dialogue. In addition, Sue had meetings with non-governmental organisations and the donor community. She also chaired a session at the Asian Development Bank high-level conference on the 'Impact of the Global Economic Slowdown on Poverty and Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific'.
