Our season began in January with coaching at Forthview Driving Range, Airth with coach, Stewart Craig.
I organised 2 squad training sessions with Stewart Craig. He did putting analysis sessions with the players and the feedback seemed very positive. Numbers were down but 11, out of a possible 14 junior members, attended regularly, weekly until the end of March and our thanks goes to Stewart Craig and his team. 16. I have spoken to Stewart Craig and winter coaching will commence on Wed nights from 6-8pm at the start of January until the end of March as usual. This took place at Forthview driving range, Airth with professional, Stewart Craig. Twenty girls enjoyed the Wednesday night coaching from Stewart Craig and there had been two sessions 6-7pm and 7-8pm. each week. We held a prize draw for various donated prizes, including courtesy fourballs at several local clubs, a lesson from Stewart Craig, Falkirk GC, and lessons from Michael McAllan, Asst Pro, Glenbervie GC, and raised just over £300 to go towards the costs of county girls coaching & development. Club golf stage 3 year 2 part 2 coaching was held mainly over the winter months with the county girls coach Stewart Craig and our top 8 players. There were ten 2 hour sessions. The last session was an "on course lesson" with Stewart. The girls winter coaching was held every Thursday evening from the start of January until the end of March. This was split into 2 sessions -The first for beginners who came from 6-7pm each week and the second from 7-8pm was mainly for those with CONGU handicaps . 27 girls came regularly to the coaching. We thank Stewart Craig and his team at Forth View Driving Range. Stewart held a tour stars golf day with Trish Johnson and Becky Brewerton and raised £400 in a raffle which they have given to us for our funds. Stewart Craig and his team at the range gave us the second hour coaching for half price with no extra charge for use of the range. 5 of our top girls were offered 4 individual 1hour lessons with Stewart over the winter We also ran Clubgolf stage 3 year 2 part 1 for our elite players which consisted of 10 weeks of 2 hours coaching per week. ·I would like to thank our County ladies committee for all their help and also Stewart Craig (CountyGirls' Coach) and his team for all the coaching . Finally I would like to thank those of you who supported the CountyAm-Am which was held at Dunblane this year. The squad attended five practice sessions with Stewart Craig at Falkirk GC, again with emphasis on short game and putting. It was great to have a lot of new faces although it did get a bit crowded some evenings We are extremely fortunate to have Stewart Craig as our county girls coach. He is keen to help develop the county girls' golf and we do get a good deal from him. We also gave some of our younger, keen members the opportunity to have a couple of individual lessons each with Stewart and I think this has helped to encourage them. Again this was funded by lottery money. Stewart also made it fun for them. The winter coaching programme will soon be underway. Because of the increase in numbers last winter, I am intending to split the Jan to March coaching at the driving range into two groups- beginners 6pm-7pm and improvers- 7pm -8pm. So we'll see how this goes. Some of the "Elite Squad" will receive a few individual lessons with Stewart over the winter. I also thank Stewart Craig, our coach, Falkirk Golf Club for the use of their par 3 course and Forthview Driving Range where our winter coaching takes place.
