Steve Stenger to Challenge Charlie Dooley for County Executive Post
Stenger is scheduled to make the announcement at press conference Tuesday afternoon in Clayton.
Labor leaders and other county officials who have broken with Dooley are scheduled to join Stenger when he makes the announcement.
Stenger represents much of South County, south of Gravois Road, in the St. Louis County Council.
Stenger is a CPA and should be able to do that, (ONLY IF HE IS SERIOUS). Unfortunately, he is a Democrat and he will not run on that type of waste. He will run on telling the people their Parks will remain open--so he will still charge higher taxes to keep those parks open. He will retain all those union bid jobs as exchange for union votes.
And arguably, neither is Steve Stenger. He has been on the County Council for 4 years... and now he wants to change the procurement policies of St Louis County; now he wants audit all of the accounts. Where was Steve about this earlier when Dooley wanted ti close the parks.
Stenger made a stink about it. But did he look into why the county was having money problems?? This is a CPA and a lawyer. He was just making points. He did not change the game.
A CPA interests me, but not the Lawyer side of Stenger.

Stenger says he wants Metro to admit error on Meridian garage deal
County Council Chairman Steve Stenger (right) announces the formation of a special budget committee during the County Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, while County Executive Charlie Dooley listens.
CLAYTON • St. Louis County Council member Steve Stenger said he may vote on Tuesday to withhold $5.9 million in funding to Metro transit to protest the agency's expenditure of that amount for a developer's share of a Brentwood parking garage.
"The only parties that do not think this was a terrible deal for taxpayers are Metro officials and the developer," Stenger, a Democrat from the Affton area, said Thursday.
"Before I vote on (the appropriation) on Tuesday, I'd like someone at Metro to acknowledge that this deal was ill-conceived," Stenger said.
Stenger said that he does not believe a majority of the council would side with him if he did vote against the appropriation.
"I'm hesitant to vote against it myself because I don't want to do anything that might hurt the current riders," he said.
