Chiropractic Awareness Council Spring Conference information
Hi I'm Dr. Frank Sovinsky and welcome to DC Mentors' V-blog. I'm here with my friend, Dr. Steve Silk. We've known each other a long time and I look up to him literally in statue and also with a passion that you have had the moment I met you with philosophy. There is something that you're doing in Ontario with the Chiropractic Awareness Council, can you tell us about that?
Dr. Silk - The Chiropractic Awareness Council of Ontario is the only vitalistic based association that promotes the core principles of chiropractic.
...
Dr. Silk - That was one of the prime reasons I got involved at the director's level and ultimately moved to the Chairman's position because I know that what we have to offer in a vitalistic model is so much more than cricks, backaches and strains.
...
Dr. Silk - Vitalism is the total of the individual far surpasses the individual parts put together, that there is something that animates, as I'm getting quite animated just thinking about it now.

Chiropractic Awareness Council Spring Conference
Hi I'm Dr. Frank Sovinsky and welcome to DC MentorsV-blog. I'm continuing my heavy duty conversation with Dr. Steve Silk and we were in the process of talking about vitalism. What I got from listening to you was that this isn't about a theory, but it's living in a world of pragmatic because you keep insisting that vitalism is about your hands and touching people. Can you expand on the word intent when you go to touch people because you're in practice, you love practice. I listen, I read some of your Facebook messages like "I just wish this patient would of listened. So when you touch somebody what do you feel?
Dr. Silk - In that split second I'm a Chatty Cathy, I do a lot of talking in my practice.
...
Dr. Silk - I just shut my trap for that 2 seconds, "Be well."
...
Dr. Silk - I have no doubt, that every single person that comes into my office, and your office, and Dr. Brian's office or Dr. Raelynn's office that they're going to get better at some level, some miraculous recoveries I've been very privileged to participate in with people and some that maybe just they slept a little better.
...
Dr. Silk - I agree, either we set expectations for the patient and they don't meet it and that deflates and creates dissolution within the practitioner or the patient has an idea of what they want and they set their expectations too high and we can't deliver that either.

"Dr. Whitney was a mentor to thousands of students, including myself," writes Dr. Steven Silk, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Chiropractic Awareness Council in Canada. "He guided them through the challenges of 'start-up,' with the intent of giving them the ability to 'hit the ground running.' Using solid business and practice management tips, based in ethics and built on a foundation of patient-centred care, he helped chiropractors on both sides of the 49th parallel create successful practices for over 30 years."

...
"Many a late night was spent, over a fine bottle of red wine," continues Dr. Silk, "discussing philosophy, not only of chiropractic, vitalism and the changing health-care scene, but life in general.
