career includes 20 years in integrated circuits, where he
played roles in design, applications, marketing and business management.Steve started his career at Avco, Tau-Tron, and Data General, where he performed engineering design work.
developed hardware and software at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory
in Berkeley, CA.Following this role, he
did hardware and software design for very large IC testers at GenRad.After GenRad, Steve joined AMD (Advanced Micro Devices), a major semiconductor company.
While at AMD Steve was responsible for product definition, applications support, and market justification for a number of AMD integrated circuit product lines, including analog, memory support devices, and bus interface devices.He
was also responsible at AMD
for preparing and presenting business plans to AMD's
executive staff.After AMD, he accepted a position with Sharp Microelectronics in Camas, WA. At Sharp, Steve had a dual career path.
On the management path he
held various director-level management positions.On the technical path Steve
was designated a Sharp Fellow, one of only a very few such titles handed out at Sharp worldwide.Steve
had P&L responsibility for a business unit at Sharp comprising design, manufacturing, test, marketing, and sales for DSP and memory devices.He
also was responsible for developing and presenting business plans to Sharp's
executive staff, both in the US and in Japan.Steve holds a BSEE degree from Tufts University, Medford, MA.He
has written over a dozen papers in both the refereed and trade literature, and holds 9 US patents.
