Carlisle United chairman Andrew Jenkins has launched a thinly-veiled attack on the pressure placed on director Steven Pattison to resign from the club's holding company board.
stepped down last month as part of the attempted restructure of the club's finances, led by businessman Andrew Lapping.
Jenkins said Pattison
was urged to resign "by people who don't really know him".
It read: "I would like to say thank you to Steven Pattison who has recently been asked to resign from the Holding Company Board by people who don't really know him.
is a football person and first and foremost a Carlisle supporter and season ticket holder," Jenkins added.
"A few years ago Steven
wrote off over £50,000 from the club accounts, for which we were very grateful.
"Thank you for everything Steven
, I know you will still carry out work around the ground, free of charge, and that it will not be the last we will see of you."
