Steve Groves Authors Federal Preemption Article Featured in AAJ Publication By HGSS Law on 10/23/2013 4:37 AM In the Fall 2013 Railroad Law Section Newsletter published by the American Association for Justice (AAJ), Holland Groves partner Steven L. Groves examines the recent Supreme Court decison in Kurns vs. Railroad Friction Products Corp., setting forth a legal analysis that is now regularly being accepted in state and federal courts across the county. Groves is the Immediate Past Chair of the Railroad Law Section of AAJ and presided over the organization's annual meeting in San Francisco in July, 2013. He has litigated and tried a large number of FELA cases involving preemption issues particularly regarding the Locomotive Inspection Act, a special law that compliments the FELA and provides strict liability on railroad companies that provide non-conforming equipment to their employees.
