Steven M. Erde, PhD, MD
Steven M. Erde Ph.D., M.D. is currently a Health Information Technology Consultant.
Most recently Dr. Erde worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) as Vice President of Information Technology where he architected and deployed a PHR enabled a patient Portal (www.myNYP.org) empowered by Microsoft HealthVault & Amalga UIS.
The portal allows patients of NYP
to download their clinical information into a patient controlled, non-tethered personal Health Record and share this information with other care providers to improve continuity of care.
Before joining NYP, Dr. Erde created and ran the Office of Academic computing at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, which evolved into the information technology organization for the entire medical school.
was responsible for developing educational software, an internet based telepathology system, as well as numerous clinical, research and administrative systems.
In addition to running the Information technology group, he was the HIPAA security officer and the technology architect for all capital projects.
He received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Columbia University in 1984 and then his M.D. at Cornell University in 1986.
After medical school Dr. Erde stayed on at Cornell and New York Hospital for postgraduate training in anatomic pathology and neuropathology, in 1991 he joined the faculty of pathology at the medical school.
