Dr. Steven DiSalvo took office July 1, 2010 as the 14th president of Marian University. Dr. DiSalvo brought extensive leadership experience to Marian. His academic background includes positions at Fairfield University, Loyola University Chicago and Fordham University. His experience in philanthropic organizations includes: President and Founder of The Hopewell Group, Inc.; Executive Director of the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation; and Chief Operating Officer of Junior Achievement Of New York, Inc.
Dr. DiSalvo has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, an M.B.A. in Marketing and a B.S. in Psychology, all from Fordham University.

Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D. is president of The Hopewell Group, Inc. which focuses on the transfer of wealth for individuals, family foundations and corporations. He has a wide range of experience in the non-profit sector that spans more than twenty years.
Most recently, Steve served as Executive Director of The Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, which works to educate to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives. Safe at Home collaborated with a variety of other non-profits dedicated to ending violence. Educational programs have been implemented in New York City schools with expansion throughout the New York tri-state area. Steve helped launch a national advertising campaign that included the creation of two television commercials, one of which won a local Emmy Award, and print ads that appeared in magazines, billboards and subways.
Prior to joining The Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, Steve served as Chief Operating Officer of Junior Achievement of New York, Inc. JANY serves more than 150,000 students in the New York City area by providing business education using corporate volunteers as teachers. As COO, Steve coordinated fundraising, educational programs, special events, marketing and public relations.
Steve got his start in fundraising as a development officer for a $150 million capital campaign at Fordham University in New York. He then relocated to Chicago where he served as Executive Assistant to the President of Loyola University. There he designed and implemented new programs while raising external funds necessary to subsidize operating budgets. Upon returning to the East Coast, Steve led a $125 million capital campaign at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
He has written several articles on transitional issues facing freshmen in college that appeared in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Steve is the author of The Loyola Freshman Experience published by Kendall Hunt.
Steve was also a contributing author to Mapping the New World of American Philanthropy, published by Wiley & Sons.
Steve completed his Ph.D. in educational leadership from Fordham University where he also holds a B.S. in psychology and an MBA in marketing. He currently sits on two family foundation boards and is a member of the advisory board of the Center for American Catholic Studies at Fordham.
