Steve (left in photo), was our very colorful Cherokee tour guide who explained and illustrated various features of Cherokee life at that time.
He shared with us some of the Cherokee language explaining that the Cherokee word for "Hello" is o-si-yo! But he told us there is no Cherokee word for "Goodby" rather they use the expression, "We will see each other again" which is expressed do-da-da-go-hv-i when speaking to two or more people and do-na-da-go-hv-i when speaking to just one person.*

Kansas City-"It's the most comprehensive stewardship packet we've ever created," said Steve Weber, director of Nazarene Stewardship Ministries. Weber was referring to The Cycle of Victorious Giving kit, which pastors are now receiving in the mail.
"Model sermons, handouts, Sunday School lessons for all ages, and much more-it's in there," said Weber.
Weber said Stewardship Ministries is already at work on the next packet and plans to continue to develop the resource as long as churches find it useful. Plans are also being made to develop it in languages other than English.
"We believe giving-whether it's for local, district, educational, or general support-is enhanced when a church teaches the importance of stewardship to all ages," Weber said.

"The new name more accurately describes our essential emphasis in light of this change," said Steve Weber, director of Stewardship Ministries. "The new Stewardship Ministries will focus mainly on whole-life stewardship education for all ages."
Planned Giving Services, which served as the donor development ministry of the Stewardship Office for three decades, is becoming part of the newly created Church of the Nazarene Foundation.
Weber said Stewardship Ministries will continue to promote financial giving to the World Evangelism Fund. It will also place special emphasis on the creation of quality resources to teach the biblical stewardship of time, talent, treasure, and touch (relationships) for carrying out the Great Commission. At the same time, Stewardship Ministries will move forward in such areas as continued stewardship training for pastors and its Forward in Faith program to assist churches with affordable capital stewardship assistance.
"We continue to partner with Nazarene Youth International, Children's Ministries, World Mission, USA/Canada Mission Evangelism, International Board Of Education, Nazarene Missions International, and others to develop materials relevant to all age groups," said Weber.

Pastor Stephen (Steve) Weber
came to MVPC in 2000 after a stint on active duty as a chaplain with the U.S. Navy. Prior to this he served as pastor of churches in northern California and northern Idaho. A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Whitworth College he highly values the role of the local church in the life of believers. Initially he was a sports writer for a daily newspaper in Colorado before responding to a call to the pastoral ministry. He shares his life with his wife Cindy, and children Luke, Melissa, Laura and Jeffrey. Outside of the pulpit you might catch Steve hiking the Cascades, biking Skagit Valley, swatting tennis balls or coaching youth soccer. In the winter of 2003 he was called back to active duty and served four months in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. You may contact Pastor Steve Weber by email at or by calling MVPC at 360-424-7675.
