"The Vault Keeper" is Steve Seidman, who is a Senior Producer at NFL Films and practically a senior citizen.
While he's not exactly a cranky old coot, he does prefer the way pro football was played during the 50's,60's and 70's. It should be mentioned that his view of "old school" pro football has been totally formed by "classic" NFL Films. Steve Seidman (25)

edit 07/05 at 1:45 pm: a tip of the hat to Steve Seidman of NFL.com for pointing out that this article was written by The Vault Keeper, and not Greg Cosell.
My sincere apologies to The Vault Keeper on the omission, as well as thanks to Mr. Seidman for pointing the error out to me so I could correct it. Thank you very much for pointing that out to me Steve.

"In putting this film together, we searched beyond even our own archive, which contains more than 100 million feet of film," said NFL Films co-producer Steve Seidman."While the film is not a comprehensive history of pro football in the '50s, it does depict a more intimate game that reflected a more intimate time in America." Seidman and Didinger have been covering the game for more than five decades combined. The executive producers of THE GAME OF THEIR LIVES are Ross Greenburg and Rick Bernstein for HBO Sports and Steve Sabol for NFL Films; producers, Thomas Odefelt for HBO and Steve Seidman, Ray Didinger and Jeff Hillegass for NFL Films; narrated by Liev Schreiber. "We did close to 30 interviews for this film, and what amazed me was how many people from different walks of life and different professions admired and respected the way he played the game," said Steve Seidman, NFL Films producer. The executive producers are Ross Greenburg and Steve Sabol; producers, David Harmon and Steve Seidman and Ray Didinger of NFL Films.
