Arnel Pineda vs Steve Perry
It was freaky, all the musicians are senior citizens... hey wtf thats not Steve Perry! Armel is amazing, in fact he's a little too good, he sounds, looks, walks, dresses just like Steve Perry. All I could think about was this is just like that move Rock Star (2001), the one with Marky Mark Wahlberg.
Journey isn't the same w/o Steve Perry but at least Arnel Pineda keeps all of the old songs alive.
The singer sounds almost exactly the same, but their new stuff will never amount to anything that the old Journey was able to do with Steve Perry. Sic Semper Tyrannis
Why did Steve Perry leave Journey? He didn't leave Journey, Journey left him. He was diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease and couldn't perform in their 1996 comeback tour which caused it to be cancelled. Perry wanted to avoid any major surgery if at all possible. Neal Schon (guitar) and Jonathan Cain (Keyboard/piano) waited 13 months for him to return, but couldn't wait any longer and decided to replace him with the temporary front man Steve Augeri. Height of popularity, 1981-1983. Even if Steve Perry came back its doubtful they would ever make a top/10. I guess they just needed a clone of Steve Perry, Im surprised they don't just make Arnel change his name too.
