"We are eager to continue our support for astronomy at the University of Utah," says Stephen Eccles Denkers, executive director of the Willard L. Eccles Charitable Foundation.

Denkers noted that his family foundation's support for University of Utah participation in the Sloan survey's third phase "has been a key pillar of the establishment of the astronomy program at the university, and has led to multiple, high-profile results in research, education, outreach and external funding."

Stephen E. Denkers brings years of involvement with a diverse group of non-profit organizations, ranging from private school pk-12, higher education, environmental preservation, research, arts, homeless shelters, food banks, and 25 years of management in a family foundation. Stephen Denkers became involved with Realms of Inquiry when two of his children entered the school in 2005. Mike and Madison were struggling with the rigid structure of Rowland Hall. Realms has opened the world to Mike and Madison. Madison has become a confident world traveler and has as many prospective colleges out of the US as she does in the states. Mike is growing every day; he is very excited to participate in the international travel. One of the most impressive aspects of Realms is the teachers. Steve had the pleasure to know many great teachers over the years; the teachers at Realms of Inquiry are among the most talented, smart, dynamic and dedicated of all. He wishes he had gone to Realms with this group of teachers. He is very excited for Realms of Inquiry's future. Steve received a Bachelor of Science from the University Of Utah in 1984. He was founder and president of Evolution Ski Company from 1984-2004, when he sold the company. He was very involved with the efforts to bring the Winter Olympics to Utah. Steve has served as a trustee on his grandfather's charitable foundation (The Willard L. Eccles Foundation) since 1985, and became executive director of the foundation in 1999. He also serves on his parents' charitable foundation (Stephen and Susan Denkers Foundation). He has served and serves on the following Boards: Rowland Hall, The Nature Conservancy of Utah and Idaho, National Advisory Committee of the University of Utah, Utah Museum of Natural History, Spy Hop, Sundance Institute and Realms of Inquiry.
