Jeffrey Steven Clay, 33, was supposed to be at a work-related conference off campus when
he was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Chihuahua on El Paso's south side.

El Paso school district spokeswoman Margaret Gallardo said Clay was placed on paid administrative leave Thursday pending an internal investigation into his arrest....
Clay could not be reached for comment.
According to court documents,
Clay approached an undercover officer and offered
her $20 to have oral sex with
her.
Clay was arrested, charged with soliciting prostitution and jailed.
He was released from jail Thursday on $300 bond.
The offense is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Court documents indicate that the conversation between
Clay and the undercover officer was recorded through a body wire and video surveillance.
The arrest was part of a police operation targeting prostitution, records show.
Clay was named principal at MacArthur in September 2004 after holding the same position at Travis Elementary.He graduated from Coronado High and has degrees from Lubbock Christian University and New Mexico State University.
