Dr. Stephen Furrer
10/11/2015 Search Committee Update --Members of the Search Committee 10/18/2015 Justice, Equity, and Compassion in Human Relations --Rev. Dr. Stephen Furrer Stephen is a sixth generation Unitarian Universalist whose ministerial career spans more than three decades. He has served as a Settled Minister for four different churches, most recently in Santa Fe, NM (2000-2009). Since then he has served as an Interim Minister in Santa Monica, Long Beach and the First UU Society of San Francisco. During the past year, he has served as Interim Minister at the UU Fellowship of Redwood City. Stephen holds the AIM (Accredited Interim Minister) certification. This certification is awarded by the Unitarian Universalist Association to ministers who have completed a course of training specific to the craft of interim ministry. Before attending seminary, Steve worked in the US House of Representatives during Watergate. He loves theater, being in nature, camping, writing, rollerblading, working out at the gym, playing and attending baseball games, reading (especially history and biography), puttering around on boats, and sitting by the water's edge. Stephen is the proud single father of his daughter, Meredith. She is a psychiatric social worker and an active member of the UU Fellowship in Brisbane, Queensland. Meredith and her husband Dan, welcomed a son into their family: Asher Furrer Siskind in June, 2013. Rev. Furrer is part of a close family that includes two sisters and a brother, all of whom reside in Massachusetts. Steve believes that excellent Sunday worship services are at the heart of all healthy congregations. Consequently, he invests the best of his creative energies to that effort. His personal style is relaxed, focused, and professional. Stephen's work with UUCF began on August 1, 2014.
