From the time that Stan Oliver, Aero Clubs chairman took the podium this was set to become not only a memorable occasion, but also one that was significant for the bringing together of the various members of the Aero Club of South Africa.
However, one person has been intimately involved in the recovery process of the Aero Club during recent times and it was fitting that Helm Ludwig paid tribute to the fantastic work that Stan Oliver, Aero Clubs chairman, has undertaken in turning the organisation around into a highly respected organisation.
Stan also announced that the Aero Club of S.A. had managed to get ATNS to recognise that the lower limit of exemption for charges levied to general aviation would now be raised to 1 200 kg and that sport aircraft, such as Harvards, that exceeded this weight would also become exempt from ATNS charges.
also announced that three new sections of the Aero Club
had been admitted during the past year: The disabled Aviation Association, the South African Rocketry Association
and Airshows South Africa.
