Pastor Stan Christopherson
Pastor Stan Christopherson said that he'd been notified by the Idaho Transportation Department that Idaho statute prohibits off-premise signage in the ag/suburban zone district and that, in order to bring the sign into compliance with state law, he would have to bring it into compliance with county ordinance, which requires commercial zoning for an off-premise sign, so he could make application for a special use permit to allow retaining the Meadow Creek Computer Works sign on the property.
Negley asked why he wanted to keep the sign on the property, Christopherson stated that in exchange for having the sign on their property overlooking Highway 2, Meadow Creek provides them with high-speed internet access, valued at $80 per month, saying the arrangement works well for both the church and the business.
He said that a zone change would not change anything they're doing on the property.
The sign has been on the property for about five years.
He said there are no plans to change or alter the sign, and that the sole reason for requesting the change was to be able to obtain a state sign permit.
f. On rebuttal, Christopherson
has looked at every alternative but was told by ITD
that if he
obtained a rezone and a special use permit from the county, ITD
would issue a sign permit.
said the state is taking signs down, and said that if the new comp plan and ordinance were in place, the property would be zoned rural community/commercial.
couldn't afford to wait the two or three years for the ordinance to go into effect.
Pastor Stan Christopherson and his wife Aimee arrived in Bonners Ferry, with their two girls, in May of 2004.
Pastor Stan has a BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington, and worked as a chemist for eight years before receiving his call to ministry.
In answering this call, he and his family moved to Kansas City where he received his Masters of Divinity, with a specialization in Evangelism, from Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS).
In 2014, he received his doctorate from NTS.
This diverse background provides him with the ability to integrate "real-world" issues with what it means to live a life "sold out" to Jesus Christ.
Pastor Stan is a Captain in the local volunteer fire department and teaches at a local therapeutic boarding school.
His hobbies include fishing, golfing, skiing, and cooking BBQ.
He also loves tech gadgets.
Aimee's background includes an Education and Special Education degree from Central Washington University
, and enjoys the periodic opportunities to substitute in the public school system.
She has a particular passion for working with special needs kids, and works as a therapist.
"spare" time, Aimee loves going to garage sales and can often be found at one of the local thrift shops.
If there's a bargain to be found, she
has a knack for finding it.
