Spirit Joseph | Executive Vice President
Prior to joining Pear, Spirit was Executive Director of Earthdance, a residential retreat center in Massachusetts, where he managed all aspects of operations. He also worked as Program Manager of the Cooperative Fund of New England, structuring and overseeing lending programs for cooperatively run businesses. Ever since his time serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon Africa, Spirit has been committed to socially mission-focused organizations. He is passionate about building a green economy focused upon renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Spirit holds an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management and a B.S. in Biology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He serves on the boards of both Earthdance and Windhorse Integrative Mental Health.

SPIRIT JOSEPH, Program Manager & Southwest Loan Outreach Officer; Northampton, Massachusetts.
Spirit manages the fund's portfolio of borrowers and assists on special projects. He also visits current and potential borrowers, providing technical assistance, administration of the loan portfolio, and marketing the Fund in Connecticut and western Massachusetts. He previously worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon, Africa and more recently served as the Executive Director of Earthdance, a community-based nonprofit retreat center. He holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management with a concentration in finance, and a B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Spirit currently serves on the board's of both Windhorse Integrative Mental Health and the Earthdance Creative Living Project.

Spirit Joseph served as Co-Executive Director of Earthdance from 2005-2011. He currently works as a Program Manager for the Cooperative Fund of New England, which provides financing and technical assistance to cooperatives throughout new England. Spirit holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management with a concentration in finance, and also serves on the Board of Windhorse Associates. He discovered Contact Improvisation in 2000 and dove deeply into the form, attending every jam and workshop he could find for several years. He later expanded to study various forms of dance improvisation and somatic movement. In the past, Spirit has performed with the Dance Generators (a multi-generational dance company based in Northampton) and with Group Atness (an improvisational dance collective which he co-founded with several other dancers).

Spirit Joseph, Co-Executive Director Spirit's role as Co-Executive Director includes giving direction & leadership to the formulation and achievement of the organization's philosophy, mission and its annual goals and objectives. He provides organizational leadership through ensuring that the organization's programming and vision are in alignment with our core values. Spirit also assists in fundraising and development efforts, publicity & marketing and providing general management and oversight of the organizational operations and staff. In addition Spirit oversees: a ) financial & business management of the organization; b) facility rental c) maintenance & capital improvement of the facilities d) general technical support of the office and administration of Earthdance. Spirit Joseph is currently the Co-Executive Director of Earthdance, having worked at Earthdance since 2002. Spirit focused upon math and science early in his life, graduating from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He then spent 2 year's serving in the Peace Corps in Gabon, Africa where he worked with villagers to build fish ponds and implement aquaculture practices. Since returning to the U.S. in 1998, Spirit shifted his focus to work in the nonprofit and arts administration world. He has served as a financial manager, consultant, or board member for several nonprofit organizations in addition to his work at Earthdance. Spirit has taught movement workshops and classes in college and community settings in Boston, Western Massachusetts, Ohio, Wisconsin, Spain, and Germany as well as at Earthdance and DNE Dance Camp. His performances have included work with the Dance Generators (a multi-generational dance company based in Northampton), with Group Atness (an improvisational dance collective which he co-founded with several other dancers), as well as several solos and duets performed in local community settings.

Spirit Joseph has been the Financial Manager for Yoga.com since 2004. He is the director of Earthdance, a workshop and retreat center, and the financial specialist for the Dance New England Community.
