After 38 years as senior pastor of Southside Worship Center in Chicago, Pastor Spencer Jones passed the baton of leadership to incoming pastor Titus Lee in a special installation service on Sunday, December 12.
At the time of his
retirement, Rev. Jones
had the longest tenure of any senior pastor serving in an Illinois AG
The installation service featured ministerial exhortations from several ministers, a summary of the church's history, and an endorsement from the church's board of elders.
Rev. Jones gave his blessing to Pastor Lee and issued a ministry charge to the new pastor.
wife, Kathy, will continue as missionaries with the U.S. Department of Missions
, specializing in Black Ministries.
Their assignment consists of a mandate to present the Gospel to the black population of the Chicago area through outreach efforts and compassionate care.
Part of Rev. Jones'
outreach efforts include interacting with inner-city high school students through sports and classroom visits.
