A 1977 Wake Forest grad, Skip Brown was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 1992. WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Wake Forest basketball star and Hall of Fame member Skip Brown has joined the Wake Forest Athletics Department as the assistant athletic director for student-athlete development and operations finance. Brown recently retired from his position as president of First Community Bank in Winston-Salem. He had previously served as president and co-founder of TriStone Community Bank A 1977 graduate of Wake Forest with a degree in sociology, Brown earned his MBA from Wake Forest in 1986. From the moment that he stepped on the playing floor as a starter in his first game at Wake Forest, Brown was one of the most popular and respected Demon Deacon basketball standouts, not only of the 1970s but of any era. Brown, who would go on to start every game he ever played in a Wake Forest uniform, twice earned All-America recognition, first as a sophomore in 1975 and then as a senior in 1977. He was a first team All-ACC pick both of those years as well. During his four seasons, he led the Demon Deacons in scoring, field goal and free throw percentage, and steals at least once. He is also the only player ever to lead Wake Forest in assists four consecutive years. Brown's outstanding career was capped off when he helped lead the Deacons to their first NCAA bid in 15 years in 1977. Brown remains Wake Forest's all-time leader in field goals made and ranks second in assists and third in scoring. Originally from Kingsport, Tenn., Brown was inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame in 1992. He is one of five members of the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame to currently work in the Athletics Department. He joins head women's basketball coach Jen Hoover, men's basketball assistant coaches Randolph Childress and Rusty LaRue and Bill Merrifield, the Deacon Club director of regional development. Brown and his wife, Jasminda, are the parents of two daughers, Maya and Samantha.
