DIGBOI, Feb 29 - Rev Sindhu Nath Falia, Father of Baptist Church Digboi, passed away at a nursing home in Dibrugarh recently due to old-age ailments.He was 82.Rev Falia was born at Faridpur (now in Bangladesh) in 1923.He was trained in wood craft from Faridpur Mission Industrial school and later he got training as an Instructor.In 1941, he joined Bata Shoe Co in Bengal in the shoe model department.In 1948, he joined as an Instructor in Jadavpur Engineering College as wood craft instructor and in 1951, he was transferred to Jorhat Prince of Wales Engineering Institute.He came to Digboi in 1957 and joined as the carpentry instructor in the erstwhile AOC Boys' High School and retired in 1981.Rev Falia became the Pastor of Digboi Baptist Church in 1958.He was the vice-president of Assam Baptist Convention.He was also a member of the executive body of Bible Society of India besides being closely associated with the Dibru-Sadiya Baptist Mission.He is survived by his wife, three sons, three daughters and a host of grand children.
