Simon Bazalgette - Group Chief Executive Officer
Simon Bazalgette is responsible for the strategic direction and running of The Jockey Club as the leading commercial group in British horseracing - a role he has held since September 2008.
As Group Chief Executive, Simon is responsible for overseeing the maximum commercial return from the group's assets, for reinvestment back into the sport. He leads The Jockey Club's involvement in all major industry matters, from the funding to the marketing of British racing, while developing relationships with key figures inside and outside the sport.
Simon is also Chairman of Jockey Club Racecourses. Previously, he was the founding Executive Chairman of media operator Racecourse Media Group and formerly Chief Executive of the Sony, Time Warner and BSkyB digital broadcasting venture, Music Choice Europe. He started his professional life at KPMG.
In 2011, Simon featured as racing's highest ranking executive in The Times Sport Power 100.

Simon Bazalgette was appointed Group Chief Executive of The Jockey Club in September 2008, and is Chairman of Jockey Club Racecourses. Prior to that he was the founding Executive Chairman of Racing UK from June 2004 until taking up this new role. Simon now sits on the Board of RMG as the representative of The Jockey Club, who own 13 of RMG's 30 racecourses. He also sits on the Boards of the Racecourse Association, Racing Enterprises Ltd and British Champions Series Ltd. Between 1993 and 2003 Simon was one of the founding directors of the digital broadcast network Music Choice Europe, becoming Chief Executive in 1999. He rolled out the Music Choice service to over 14 million subscribers across Europe and led the successful flotation of Music Choice on the London Stock Exchange in 2000. Prior to that, Simon worked at KPMG for 10 years as both a chartered accountant and management consultant specialising in media and entertainment businesses. In addition to his roles in horse racing, Simon is Vice Chairman of the charitable foundation The Grubb Institute.

Monday 1st September marks the start of new era for The Jockey Club as it welcomes Simon Bazalgette into the role of Chief Executive of The Jockey Club. The position is a new one and reflects The Jockey Club's intention to adopt a more proactive and coordinated group approach to the management of its commercial assets, so as to maximise its contribution to racing.
The group's interests include 14 racecourses, among them Cheltenham, Aintree, Newmarket and Epsom Downs, as well as the provision of public training facilities in Newmarket and Lambourn, a property portfolio and the National Stud. Jockey Club Racecourses is the largest shareholder in Racing UK and the largest racecourse shareholder in Turf TV.
Simon Bazalgette, 46, was previously Executive Chairman of Racing UK and of Racecourse Media Services ("RMS"), the vehicle through which 31 racecourses manage their 50% stake in Turf TV. His responsibilities as Chief Executive of The Jockey Club include chairing the Board of Jockey Club Racecourses, ensuring maximum value is obtained from the group's commercial and media rights, promoting the role of The Jockey Club in the public arena and developing relationships with key players in the racing and betting industries. As Chief Executive, he will be The Jockey Club's representative on a number of Boards and Committees, including the RCA, Racing UK and RMS, as well as representing the Racing UK racecourses on Racing Enterprises Ltd ("REL") and Amalgamated Racing (which operates Turf TV).

Simon Bazalgette appointed to new post of Jockey Club Chief Executive
The Jockey Club is pleased to announce that Simon Bazalgette has been appointed Chief Executive of The Jockey Club.
Simon Bazalgette, 46, is currently Executive Chairman of Racing UK, the media rights management company and TV channel owned by 30 British racecourses, and Chairman of Racecourse Media Services, the vehicle by which 31 racecourses manage their 50% stake in Turf TV.
The Chief Executive of the Jockey Club is a new role, reporting directly to the main board of Jockey Club Stewards. The appointment reflects the intention of The Jockey Club to become more directly involved in the management of its commercial assets since the divestment of its regulation and governance responsibilities was completed in 2007.
It is expected that Simon Bazalgette will take up the role in September.

Previously a Founder Director and Chief Executive of Music Choice Europe plc, Simon Bazalgette joined Racing UK at its inception in May 2004. Racing UK has now expanded to six business units, all start up operations which have successfully generated profits and value for its racecourse shareholders. Turf TV, of which Bazalgette is also Founder Director, is a sister channel successfully launched in 2007 providing coverage from 31 British racecourses to over 8,500 betting shops.
In March Simon Bazalgette announced that he would become the Non-Executive Chairman of Racing UK and the company is currently in the process of recruiting a Chief Executive.
