"If you don't go to college, you get nothing," said coordinator Signa Hilton.
"We've actually had girls lose their scholarships because they didn't go to college."
Rushton plans on attending BYU-Hawaii next fall, where she
expects to major in hospitality/tourism management.
To help her
achieve that goal, she
received a $4,200 scholarship for her
Keizer Junior Miss title, and a $250 scholarship for Self-Expression.She
received a third scholarship, this one for $1,500, when she
was first alternate at Oregon Junior Miss.
More than $7,500 in scholarships will be awarded to contestants this year.
