Sid Lockhart with Meridian Manufacturing kneels next to a section of the AirMax aeration system for hopper bottom bins.
Lockhart says it will take about two to three hours to install the aeration cylinder in each bin. "The cylinder itself is well built and extremely durable and it is held in place by very sturdy mounting brackets," says Lockhart.

Last week I talked to Sid Lockhart of Meridian Manufacturing Group at the Farm Progress Show in Regina, Saskatchewan about their new AirMax Aeration system.
The system was designed to retro-fit to existing hopper bottom bins. Lockhart says the demand for retro-fitting existing bins comes from farmers recognizing the value of aeration in contributing to a more valuable crop. "Grain quality losses cost farmers millions of dollars annually," says Sid Lockhart, marketing manager of Meridian Manufacturing Group.
What sets Meridian AirMax apart is that the new system allows farmers to enhance their existing grain storage, protecting their investment in the bin," says Lockhart.

Meridian Manufacturing Group "Grain quality losses cost farmers millions of dollars annually," says Sid Lockhart, marketing manager of Meridian Manufacturing Group. "Managing grain quality in storage is just as important as the field and marketing management practices that farmers employ in their farm operations. How grain is stored and managed directly affects the profits received when marketing grain." It was with this in mind that Meridian developed their flexible aeration system designed for retrofit installation in farmers' existing hopper bins. The advantages of the Meridian AirMax sectional vertical design is it offers the best opportunity for natural air drying-by helping move air as high as possible in the grain and it fits a wide range of hopper bottom bins, working with high flow applications such as pulse crops. "Aeration has long been a popular storage management practice on the Prairies, and there are several options available to growers. What sets Meridian AirMax apart is that the new system allows farmers to enhance their existing grain storage, protecting their investment in the bin," says Lockhart.
