The son of August and Alida ( Krusemark ) Eitzmann , he was born Nov.1 , 1918 in Newkirk.The family lived in Grainola , moving to a farm northwest of Newkirk when Ervin was nine years old.He attended a rural grade school and graduated from Newkirk High School with the class of 1937.On Dec. 31 , 1939 he and Virginia Mae Tracy were married in Wellington , KS.They made their home on a farm northeast of Newkirk.Eitzmann was engaged in farming and ranching , retiring from the operation in May 1989.After retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening.A member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Newkirk , Mr. Eitzmann had served in various positions in the church over the years.He had also served on the Board of Education for OK School District and was a charter member of Dale Township rural water.Surviving him are his wife , Virginia of the home ; one son and his wife , Mark and Sherry Eitzmann of Ponca City ; three daughters and their husbands , Karen and Marvin Janda of Kildare , Jean and Bill Austin , and Connie and Clarence Gray , all of Arkansas City ; two brothers , Ira and Carol Eitzmann of New Ulm , TX , and Harold and Marcella Eitzmann of Morgans Point , TX ; one sister , Glendora Schmidt of Newkirk , nine grandchildren ; and nine great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents , one brother and one sister.The funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday , Nov. 21 in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ernest Quillen , minister of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Rev. Mark Boxman , minister of Redeemer Lutheran Church , Arkansas City officiating.Burial followed in Newkirk Cemetery under the directions of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service.
