Dr. Sherman Roosevelt Tribble Prior to his labor with the people of New Visions, Dr. Tribble served as pastor of the First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill of Nashville, TN. Before his arrival in Nashville, Dr. Tribble served as the pastor of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church of Ossining, New York. Dr. Tribble has served as the Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Homiletics and History at the American Baptist College in Nashville. Dr. Tribble has served as Adjunct Professor of Church History at New York Theological Seminary. He had served as United Negro College Fund Visiting Scholar in the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Fisk University in Nashville. He has been a Lecturer in Church and Ministries at the Divinity School at Vanderbilt University. He served as a mentor with Dr. Kelly M. Smith, Jr. for the Smith and Tribble Scholars in the Doctor of Ministry Program at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. He is currently an adjunct faculty person at Fisk where he honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of Fisk University by the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education, 1994. Dr. Tribble has preached in many major pulpits throughout the country. He has also preached or lectured in a number of colleges and universities across the nation. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he completed the public schools in that city. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fisk University, magna cum laude. While at Fisk, he was a member of the renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers. He has served as an alumni trustee of his alma mater. He received a Master of Divinity Degree from Howard University School of Divinity. Reverend Tribble has earned the Doctor of Philosophy Degree in the Joint Garrett/Northwestern Program in Religious and Theological Studies at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. In the spring of 2001, Dr. Tribble recorded and released a CD entitled, "The Heart and Soul Of A Preacher Musician." He is a member of The Interdenominational Ministers Fellowship; past moderator of Area VI of American Baptist Churches of the South; a former member of the Board of Directors for the Middle Tennessee chapter of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation; a member of the Covenant Group; a 1995 alumnus of Leadership Nashville; a former board member of the Community Foundation Of Middle Tennessee; a former member of the Board of Directors Girl Scout Council for Cumberland Valley; and a subscribing life member of the Nashville Branch of the NAACP.
