Nothing in Sheri's early life would have predicted her future in fashion; she was a confirmed tomboy who borrowed shirts from her brother. She graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington and mastered four semesters of French in order to fulfill the requirements of her degree, meanwhile falling in love with the French language andculture. After she received her B.A. in communications, Sheri moved to California and worked at Columbia Pictures in Hollywood. mong the lavishly dressed, Sheri observed that the simply elegantwoman was the most graceful at industry soirees.
Sheri earned an M.B.A. at Pepperdine University and focused on the import/export business. he moved to Paris in 1993 to continue her study of the French language at the Sorbonne. nce she gained acceptance in her second language, she began to listen carefully and speak less because she was learning from none other than Anne Fontaine. his more informal type of education encouraged the development of Sheri's personal creativity.
Sheri partnered with Anne Fontaine in North America for six years.

Recently Atlas Travel President and CEO Elaine Osgood had the good fortune to meet a young designer/entreprenuer named Sheri Falk and wanted to share her discovery with women dressing for success.

Returning to thestates, Sheri tried to emulate their sophisticated and chic style. While she was able to find functional pieces, not many had the flattering feminine fit of the European designs. Sheri launched Basiques in September of 2001, because she wanted to create clothes that updated the signature American classics, yet epitomized French elegance. According to Sheri, "French women taught me to use a woman's frame as the design - to shape, contour and showcase femininity. Basiques reinforces that you do not need a lot of things...just a few really great things. Most women wear only 20% of their clothes 80% of the time. Basiques are the pieces she wears time and time again. The focus is on fit, femininity, a splash of color and visual texture."
According to Sheri, the Basiques business concept is about service as much as it is about product. Basiques presents seminars to emphasize a woman's femininity.
"Business clothes are often styled more for function, but a woman can embrace her shape with clothes that fit and flatter her form," says Falk.
