Two of our Albuquerque employees, William Penner and Shawn Kelley, were asked to give a presentation on their non-traditional mitigation work in Abo Canyon.

William and Shawn presented the history of the Abo canyon from the nineteenth century to the present, which focused on homesteading and how the introduction of the railroad influenced the lifestyles of the people who lived in that area.

As part of the project, Shawn Kelley interviewed over 60 people from the region about their history.

When asked what his favorite part of the presentation was Shawn said, "many community members contributed significantly to the project and the presentation was a way to give back to them and foster a reciprocal relationship."
