The fire was reported around 6 p.m. Friday, said Shawn Beresford, chief of the Beekman Fire Department.
At its peak, the fire smoldered in small "hot spots" that covered 1.1 acres.
However Appalachian Trail hikers were still able to pass through the area, said Beresford
Inmates from a local correctional facility will be brought to the area Wednesday to help remove the hoses used in firefighting, he
said Tuesday the early-morning rain "helped a little, but there were still hot spots.
Around 3 p.m., he
reported the fire was out.
On Saturday, eight inmates, supervised by a corrections officer from the Otisville Correctional Facility in Orange County, helped clear a fire break line, he said.
