Nu Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and P.E.A.R.L.S., Inc. awarded up to $5,000 in scholarships to Shauday Rodney, Shayla Ransom, Kanika D'Andrea Shields and Jasmine Blanks during their second annual Maurice M. Williams Scholarship Luncheon. Nu Xi Omega and P.E.A.R.L.S. awarded $2,000 to Shauday Rodney, who graduated from New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School with a 3.46 grade point average and ranked in the top 6% of her class. She is the daughter of Hazel-Ann Rodney, and received offers of college admission from both Rutgers State University of New Jersey and Farleigh Dickinson University. Throughout the school year, Ms. Rodney served as National Honor Society vice president, Student Liaison Outreach Team secretary, Student Government president, a peer tutor of English and a member of the Drama Club.She also gained distinction as a National Poets Society-Poet of the Year. She has volunteered with the Community Health Fair, Children's Art Fair, Special Olympics and the Jesus & Me Youth Ministry, as well as volunteered in the Child Life unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital as a child counselor and the Women's Wellness department of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
