Typically our director and artist Sharron Tancred only needs 2-3 hours to take your brief, sample colours and measure.
From there, your mural design is digitally created in studio for your approval, and then on site, is projected onto your wall, hand painted in Resene and twice sealed with a no VOC varnish so there are no long lasting fumes.
As Sharron's background is 23 years in advertising and corporate Graphic Design, she
can create wall murals with signage componets that provide both excellent value and a point of difference.
also has a certificates in Interior Decorating and Colour Psychology which has bought Tailored Artworks
to the forefront of Australian wall mural design for Aged Care and Dementia.
Sharron has painted wall murals for McKenzie Aged Care Group, Spiritus, Qld Health and Regis Aged Care Group who flew Sharron to Melbourne for 3 weeks work in 2012 because they trusted her.
The strategy: Sharron
designed the new hand-painted mural with Carla who preferred a pastel colour scheme with the original beige walls and some soft wallpaper to match.
is passionate about colour in Aged Care facilities.
As a trained interior decorator and colour psychologist, Sharron explained to Carla the subtleties of how dementia residents see/perceive colour, strongly encouraging her to choose vibrant high luminosity colours instead, with fresh white walls, and the mural and complimentary wallpaper to feature large patterns and shapes.
The results: Carla was nervous at first about the colour selection but soon changed her mind when the results became obvious. 'Thanks Sharron!
The Brief - Regis Aged Care Group
referred McKenzie Aged Care Group's Buderim Views facility to Sharron
Like Regis and Queensland Health, they had an issue with their Dementia Facility exits: residents with Dementia fretting at the exit points.
It was one of the nurses who insisted that a mural would solve the problem.
Head Nurse, Gwen, requested a scene with yellow curtains, dogs and the Buderim hinterland, and wanted it painted in time for their accreditation inspection.
The Strategy - Sharron
designed a scene based on the Regis murals that Gwen and her
upper management liked.
She changed elements like increasing the curtains' length for added colour and researching Buderim to provide an accurate representation of the landscape.
The Brief - Sharron
has painted many murals for dementia and aged care facilities.
Sometimes these dear souls greatly resent being locked up and so doors can become a place of anger that causes problems for staff.
These 6 murals for Regis' Dementia units in both Brisbane and Melbourne reduce this problem and increase morale.
The Strategy - At appointment, Sharron
designed sketches relevant to the facilities locale so as to engage important memories.
Dementia sufferers loose their memory and physical capacities with time, including sight - their movement, depth and colour perception.
paints local scenes for their familiarity to the majority of residents and portrays activities where they can place themselves ie walking a dog, kite flying or fishing to help transport them to another time and place, remembering the joy found in these simple past times.
The wall murals Sharron
creates for Dementia facilities use colour psychology for a feeling of optimism and freshness.
The Strategy - After much content research, Sharron
painstakingly created our own Disneyesque style and painted the wall murals in the client's corporate colours.
