Ms. Cook served on the board of consultants for the recent 8th edition of the text and assisted in editing sections of the book.
"Dentists like knowing they (potential applicants) graduated from both programs because that means they can work in all areas of the office," said Columbus Technical College Dental Assisting Instructor Sharron Cook.
Cook said the difference between a dental assistant and a dental hygienist is that the assistant helps the dentist with all procedures while the hygienist actually cleans a patient's teeth.
