Shari A. Rogalski, Senior Director
Shari Rogalski is the global lead for Accenture's Business Intelligence (BI) practice and has over 15 years of experience in the business intelligence and data warehousing field. Shari is located in the Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
After studying in Austria and the United States, Rogalski graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a degree in Management. She began her career with Accenture with a typical stint of COBOL programming, and then was assigned to develop one of Accenture's first computer-based training (CBT) courses, the Business Practices Course. That led to another unique projectâ€"software development. Rogalski worked on a joint project with a software company to develop an exception monitoring product, and her career in BI was launched!
Rogalski recalls being in front of Accenture's senior most executive team while walking them through the CBT as a very junior employee. "The respect for the Accenture team, regardless of position, gave me the confidence that no one is off-limits." At a young age, she felt that Accenture had a very open-door policy and has brought that philosophy to the BI practice, and more broadly, into Accenture Information Management Services. These experiences, early in her career with Accenture, along with the examples set by the executives, contributed to the small-community feel of the BI practice that she has created today.
Working on a variety of BI topics/components and across many industries has made for an exciting career. She continues to be impressed by her industry-focused colleagues, who really know their clients' context. "However, I wouldn't change my pursuit of BI. I have grown up in this field and now I have the opportunity to help shape Accenture's thought leadership and capability not just in BI but also in the broader Information Management space where BI is key." According to Rogalski, it is the combination of the deep skills in both technology and the industry that sets Accenture apart from its competition.
Today, as lead of a fast-growing group, Rogalski is focused on making Accenture the market leader in BI. She relies on and is extremely proud of her team as they deliver BI excellence to their clients, as well as their Accenture colleagues. "We have a responsibility to grow BI knowledge and skills both internally and externally." Her strong focus on community building and team spirit is the foundation of her success. This is reflected in how she runs her group and her activities beyond her "day job." Rogalski is part of the US Women's Steering Group and is very involved with local office activities. She runs recruiting efforts at her Alma Mater, established an Accenture Endowed Scholarship Fund, and annually rallies alumni to contribute to the scholarship which awards four $1000 gifts.
Rogalski is a member of The Data Warehouse Institute (TDWI), is a periodic contributor to DM Review, is President of the College of St. Benedict Alumnae Association, and a member of the College's Board of Trustees.
In her spare time, being from Minnesota, Rogalski likes to go to "the lake" in summer, but prefers winter. She water skis, snow skis, "jet-skis," snowmobiles, and likes to play basketball. She enjoys all this with her husband, Mike, who is a Senior Executive in Accenture's Health and Life Sciences practice.
