Shailesh "Sly" Patel, CHO

(Sly) ancestry leads back to Kanam (Baroda District).
He was born in Dabhoi, Gujarat, India and raised in Anand, Gujarat.
In order to actively pursue his desire for an education, he attended Sardar Patel University, a famous university located in Anand.
He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1984.
In 1988, Sly immigrated to the United States, and settled in New Jersey.
Later, he moved to Washington D.C., where he worked as a medical technologist at Georgetown University.
In 1995, he
left to begin working his
way through the ranks of the hotel business.
Sly started his
hotel career as a front desk agent.
In 1996, he
first hotel in upstate New York.
In 2000, he
purchased another property and then relocated to Maryland.
owns and operates multiple properties along the east coast including franchise hotels such as Hilton
and Boutique Hotels
While in New York, he served as a four-year member and one-year chairman of the New York Days Inn Alliance.
An active member of AAHOA
since 1995, Sly is a lifetime member. He was first elected the AAHOA
Board in 2004 as Washington District Regional Director.
During his tenure on the AAHOA Board, he helped bring the AAHOA Annual Convention to D.C. in 2009, where he was elected to serve as a Director at Large.
He currently serves on the Membership, By-Laws, Revenue Generation, and Legislative committees.
Sly has been recognized by many political leaders for his
achievements both in the hotel industry and in the community.
