Serban Popescu joined the Streit Council in January 2007.
He is currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. He received his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest and holds a Master's degree in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest and a Master's degree in Nationalism Studies from Central European University. Prior to joining the Streit Council, he interned at the Center for Future Security Strategies, Hudson Institute and published a brief EU pre-accession report on Romanian immigration on the website of the Center for European Policy Analysis. His interests include NATO reform, transatlantic security cooperation and American foreign policy.

Serban Popescu is the Associate Director for the Field Offices at USCRI.
Serban previously worked in USCRI's Reception and Placement program, first providing support as a Program Specialist in the pre-arrival team by processing assurances, travel notifications, and family reunification applications; later as a Program Officer in the post-arrival team, coordinating monitoring and evaluation activities, developing and providing training webinars, and assisting the Director in the financial management of the program. Serban began employment with USCRI as an Administrative Assistant, coordinating human resources for USCRI headquarters and field offices, and providing primary support to the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining USCRI, he was a Woodrow Wilson International Scholar researching the impact of EU conditionality on fledgling democracies. Serban received an M.A. in Nationalism Studies from the Central European University and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest. Serban speaks French and Romanian
