allegedly photographed players in the locker room
The part-time staff member of the University of New Hampshire
athletics department who was fired has been identified as Scott A. Weitzell
of Newmarket, the now-former director of operations for the UNH men's basketball team.
According to a statement from UNH Police Chief and Executive Director of Public Safety Paul Dean, Weitzell was allegedly photographing and/or videotaping male athletes in their locker room.
Once the university was informed of the alleged misconduct, Weitzell
was suspended from his
employment and banned from the UNH campus the day following the reported misconduct, Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.
employment was terminated on Feb. 25, 2014.
"In collaboration with the Newmarket Police Department
, investigators went to the residence of Mr. Weitzell
," where he
was arrested by Newmarket Police Department
Dean said that Weitzell
was arrested for "resisting arrest/detention and for [attempted] falsification of physical evidence during the course of the investigator's attempts to seize a mobile device pursuant to the aforementioned search warrant."
