Scott Peterson, PT, ATC

Scott is originally from the small town of Salmon, Idaho where he learned the value of hard work and the principles of helping others. He began his education at Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho where he attended one year before leaving college to serve a two-year mission for his church in West Virginia. He returned to Ricks College and earned an Associate's degree in Health Sciences. He then transferred to the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and continued his studies in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training until being accepted into the Physical Therapy program. He graduated with honors in 1987, earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy.
Following his graduation, Scott accepted a position in a large hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada but quickly learned that his real interest was in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. In 1988 he moved his family to Medford, Oregon where he was involved in a private practice for over 10 years. During that time, Scott developed his skills and specialty in orthopedic rehabilitation. Not only was he busy in the clinic, but he also gave volunteer time to the local high schools and was part of the athletic training program at Southern Oregon State University. This experience allowed him to sit for the certification exam of the National Athletic Trainers Association and in June 1996, gained his certification as an athletic trainer.
In September 1998, Scott took a position in Phoenix and moved his family to the valley of the sun. He worked for a national rehabilitation company for several years before starting Northwest Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy in June 2002. As owner and director of the clinic, he has treated a wide spectrum of orthopedic conditions, but his special interest is in the shoulder, knee and total joint rehabilitation.
Scott continues to give his time to the community and has volunteered at the local high schools since 2002. Specifically with Valley Vista High School since 2006. The clinics are teaching facilities where PT and PTA students from several universities come as part of their clinical training. Professionally, he is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Sports Physical Therapy section of the APTA, the Private Practice section of the APTA and the Arizona Physical Therapy Association.
