Here is the announcement from our Director of Music, Greg Smith: "Dear Choir, I am pleased to announce that Scott Myers
has been offered and has accepted the position of Organist at Grace Church
is no stranger to us, as he
has subbed for Will Gotmer and other past musicians.
cott completed his
master's degree in organ performance at the Juilliard School
in New York City, where he
was a student of Paul Jacobs.
has worked in a number of Catholic, Episcopal, and Presbyterian churches in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Scott earned his bachelor's degree in organ performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he studied organ with Alan Morrison and John Weaver.
While at Curtis, he
was on the roster of assistant organists at the Lord & Taylor
(now Macy's) Department Store in Philadelphia, where he
had the opportunity to play the Wanamaker Organ, the world's largest musical instrument.
was the first-place winner in the Gruenstein Memorial Organ Competition in Chicago.
early studies were with David Christopher in Wilmington, DE, and Robert Murphy at the Interlochen Arts Academy
will be playing his
first church service this Sunday, September 1, 2013.
