"After all, his name is on the door and he has a great love for this business." Currently the local chain, often known as GJ, has ten salons and spas (there were eight when the company sold) and hired more than 200 new hairdressers last year alone. "We are definitely growing as an organization," Missad says. "We are hiring at an accelerated rate." With revenues at about $75 million when the company was sold, that number is growing as well. While revenue figures are not public, Missad says they are up at least 10 percent from that figure. "We are excited to have Gene as board adviser," says Missad.
